Taken from AnwarIbrahim Blog;
Barely 24 hours after he voiced his support for opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim in the Permatang Pauh by-election, Gerakan leader Dr Toh Kin Woon has quit his party.
The Gerakan central committee member submitted his resignation letter to the party today.
Giving no further details, Toh is said to have quit to concentrate on his NGO work.
Nevertheless, the timing of his pullout from the Penang-based party has raised many questions.
While most Barisan Nasional politicians were expressing their confidence in winning the Permatang Pauh by-election, Toh was seen visiting the PKR election operation centre yesterday.
During the visit the veteran politician expressed his support for Anwar and feels that the PKR leader’s addition to Parliament can help strengthen democracy.
“I am not speaking for my party, I am speaking for myself as an individual - I do support Anwar Ibrahim in this by-election. I am not actually supporting him too much as an individual but more on the movement that he leads.
“I feel if Anwar (is elected to) Parliament, the voices of the opposition will be stronger and the chances of strengthening the democracy and widening the democratic space will be better. For these reason, I support him,” said the academician-turned-politician.
The vocal politician had stressed that he was not supporting Anwar-led PKR as a party but the movement and the cause which the PKR politician has been fighting for.

Menurut Intan, dia sanggup menghabiskan masa selama enam jam setiap hari semata-mata memuat turun klip video lucah daripada mengulang kaji pelajaran kerana terangsang mahu menontonnya.
“Bayangkan saya sanggup melayan nafsu seorang diri tanpa diketahui sesiapa biarpun perasaan ingin mencuba kenikmatan sebenar tetapi bimbang mengandung.

Arsenal’s new signing Samir Nasri feels he has all the qualities to fit right in with club’s culture of ‘amazing football’. The Gunners finally completed what has been a protracted pursuit of the attack-minded midfielder from Marseille on what they describe as a ‘long-term contract’ for an undisclosed fee on Friday.
The move could now pave the way for unsettled Belarus winger Alexander Hleb to join Barcelona. Nasri, 21-year-old, certainly has great potential having featured for France at Euro 2008 and helped Marseille claim third place in Ligue 1 last season to qualify for the Champions League. And the player is determined to make a big impression at Emirates Stadium.
‘I like offensive, technical and quick football - exactly in the style of Arsenal,’ he declared. ‘I hope I will integrate myself quickly in this team and bring everything I can to Arsenal and the fans. ‘I can play in the centre or on the wing, behind one or two strikers, on the left or the right.’
Nasri said: ‘Last season I found the Arsenal way of playing football amazing. ‘Unfortunately, the team just missed out on winning a trophy, but, in my opinion, Arsenal produced the best football in Europe. ‘I was a big fan of the team and of its football philosophy, which makes it so great for me to be joining the club.’
Nasri had announced last month, somewhat prematurely, that the deal - understood to be in the region of £12million - had been completed. However, with all the relevant documents now processed, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger can look forward to shaping his team when they head out to Austria later this month in the build up to the new season, which kicks off with a Champions League qualifier on August 12/13.
Nasri revealed Wenger’s history of developing young talent played a major part in his decision to join the Gunners. He said: ‘Arsene has a great reputation and has proved that he puts a lot of confidence in the young players and he gives them a chance.
‘It was very important for me to have such a great manager to work with.’ Nasri will join a large French contingent at Emirates, which already included captain William Gallas, Gael Clichy, Abou Diaby and Bacary Sagna. Former Arsenal captains Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira also gave the youngster some sound advice.
‘They both had amazing times at this club and even talking to them now, they are still very enthusiastic about Arsenal,’ Nasri said. ‘They both told me that it was the best choice for me to come to Arsenal.’ Wenger, meanwhile, is in no doubt Nasri will make a fine addition to his squad. ‘He is young, quick and technically an outstanding player,’ said Wenger, who also signed Wales teenager Aaron Ramsey earlier in the summer.
‘Samir has shown great potential with his performances for Marseille and the French national team over the past two seasons and he will add great quality to our squad.’ As well as resolving Hleb’s situation, Wenger will also want the future of leading scorer Emmanuel Adebayor, a £30million target for AC Milan and Barcelona, to be confirmed before the Gunners’ start their pre-season schedule in earnest.
There could yet be more departures, though, as Panathinaikos hope to tie up a deal for veteran central midfielder Gilberto Silva. Wenger is never without a back-up plan, however, and so could move for Portugal Under-21 international Amaury Bischoff, who has been released by German side Werder Bremen. Should the Arsenal manager need more attacking options, young Mexican striker Carlos Vela has been added to the first-team group for next season after receiving a work permit following his loan spell in Spain.
Wenger is a long-time admirer of Newcastle front man Obafemi Martins and Blackburn’s Paraguay striker Roque Santa Cruz, both rated around £13million, while Colombia international Radamel Falcao would welcome a move to Emirates. The River Plate striker said: ‘I know there is interest from Arsenal and that excites me. ‘If there is an agreement between the clubs I am ready to go. It would mean a huge leap forward in my career.’

Carlos Queiroz has left Manchester United to become the new manager of Portugal. The Portuguese football federation has announced the appointment of Queiroz on a four-year deal. They have been on the lookout for a replacement for Luiz Felipe Scolari since the Brazilian took charge of Chelsea.Scolari was named as Avram Grant’s successor during Euro 2008 before Portugal bowed out of the tournament at the quarter-final stage.
Manchester United assistant boss Queiroz was immediately installed as the favourite for the Portugal job but he has had to wait for the outcome of talks between club and country. There had been some speculation that Queiroz might want to stay at Old Trafford, with Sir Alex Ferguson viewing him as potentially the next United manager.
Honoured
However, Queiroz has now answered his country’s call and will look to guide Portugal to glory at the next World Cup in South Africa.”I am very proud and honoured to be able to go back and serve my country,” Queiroz was quoted as saying in a statement from the FPF.
“This is a very special position that any professional would want.”Cristiano Ronaldo, who has been playing under Queiroz at United for the last four years, believes the FPF have made a wise decision. He told RTP: “He is a perfect choice. I have been working with him for some time and I just have to say that he is very good for this job.”
United, meanwhile, must turn their attention to finding a new right-hand man for Ferguson.Brian McClair, Mick Phelan and even Eric Cantona have been linked with the role.

Iker Casillas was the penalty shoot-out hero as Spain held their collective nerve to throw out the record book and book a UEFA EURO 2008™ semi-final against Russia.
Record
Before tonight Spain had lost three competitive quarter-final penalty shoot-outs on 22 June but they stopped the rot at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion, prevailing 4-2 on spot-kicks after 120 minutes had failed to produce a goal. Although Gianluigi Buffon saved from Daniel Güiza, Casillas denied Daniele De Rossi and Antonio Di Natale, allowing Cesc Fàbregas to step up and send his side through. In truth, Luis Aragonés’s team had enjoyed the better of the play on a humid night in Vienna, Marcos Senna coming closest when he was denied by the post in the closing stages of normal time. They continued to press in the additional half-hour, David Silva and Santi Cazorla both firing narrowly wide before Casillas’s heroics saw them through to a rematch with a Russia side they defeated 4-1 in the group stage.
Omens
The Italy squad arrived at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion some time after their Spanish counterparts, and for much of the first half Aragonés’s men were similarly first to everything. With Xavi Hernández providing the pivot in midfield, Spain bossed the play, caressing the ball one way and then the other, all one-touch passing and quick bursts of activity as they picked at Italy’s high defensive line, looking for a chink in the armour. The ploy of Andrés Iniesta switching flanks to create the overlap on the left was too obvious for the wizened Azzurri back line, although David Villa’s cute back-heel almost forced an opening soon after and it took a timely block to deny Silva.
Duo missed
Italy were struggling to gain a foothold, unable to fill the sizeable void left by suspensions to their usual suppliers of industry and finesse, Gennaro Gattuso and Andrea Pirlo. It was a hole that Fernando Torres, in particular, was keen to exploit as he popped up all over the pitch, drawing Aragonés from his bench to tell him to calm down. Perhaps Aragonés was aware the omens were hardly stacked in his side’s favour as they sought their first win against the Azzurri in a competitive fixture, Olympic Games excluded. Midway through the half Massimo Ambrosini gave Spain more to think about but Simone Perrotta was unable to make the most of his arcing cross before another centre just evaded Luca Toni.
Silva threat
Yet with King Juan Carlos in the crowd, it was Spain who were rising to the occasion. Villa tested Buffon with a free-kick but it was the waspish Silva who was displaying the most menace. Seven minutes before half-time he fired a low effort past the post after a blocked Torres shot fell his way and he profited from another fortuitous opening soon after the restart, when the ball cannoned into his path eight metres out. After a clever turn it took a timely intervention from the excellent Giorgio Chiellini to deny Silva.
The Azzurri centre-back was immense, and slowly his team-mates began to respond. Just past the hour a long ball caused mayhem in the Spain defence, dropping favourably for substitute Mauro Camoranesi who forced a smothering save from Casillas.
Buffon escape
At the other end, with time ebbing away, Senna worked Buffon with a free-kick and then a low shot that bounced awkwardly in front of the goalkeeper, the ball evading his grasp and spinning on to the post before he fell on to it at the second attempt. It was a propitious bounce but there was no luck involved when the Italy No1 dived to keep out Güiza’s effort with three minutes remaining, even if play was subsequently called back for handball. Such reactions would prove invaluable in the concluding penalty shoot-out, but, unfortunately for Roberto Donadoni’s world champions, they came predominantly from Casillas.

Lewis Hamilton will have 12 cars in front of him on the grid for tomorrow’s French Grand Prix at Magny-Cours after he could only finish third fastest in qualifying behind the two Ferraris.
Kimi Raikkonen will start on pole - Ferrari’s 200th front of grid start - with Brazilian Felipe Massa second fastest.
Hamilton’s 10-place grid penalty, his punishment for running into the back of Raikkonen’s Ferrari in the Canadian Grand Prix 13 days ago, relegates him to the middle of the pack and means he will be playing catch up all race to try and challenge the leaders.
Hamilton had stated in the build-up to the race he could win from such a lowly position, but in truth the odds are stacked high against him.
In F1 history, just 24 of 792 races have been won from 11th place or lower, while no-one has taken the chequered flag at Magny-Cours from a similar position since the first Grand Prix at this circuit in 1991.
If Hamilton needs a good omen then he only has to look at Mika Hakkinen and Raikkonen, who both finished second from 14th and 13th in 1999 and 2005 respectively - both driving McLarens.
So Hamilton will be looking just to limit the damage to his title campaign as it is hard to see past a Ferrari one-two given their dominance in qualifying.
Current world championship leader Robert Kubica is only sixth on the grid, with Fernando Alonso ahead of him in third in his Renault while Toyota’s Jarno Trulli is fourth.
Heikki Kovalainen posted the fifth fastest time in his McLaren but was hit by a five-place grid penalty for blocking Mark Webber on his fast lap, and so will now start 10th.
